Can multi-session be achieved without the CD eject in any way? Depends on the particular CD-R(W) in question. Some can manage this, some can't. Problem with CD Eject
The driver is smart enough to disable the eject button (on SCSI, at least) when a CD-ROM is mounted. This is normal, and desirable. You must unmount it before ejecting it and inserting a music CD (which does not need to be mounted). However, it would be nice if we could use 'eject' to eject the CD when it's mounted
